Lighting is often described as frosting on the cake. Landscape lighting is comprised of several different general categories. One is spotlights - accentuating a particular focal point. Another is flood lights, which washes over an area. Path lighting as the name implies is used for lighting up walkways, patios, etc. Landscape lighting should be subtle and not overstated - less is more. It can be used it ponds, to light up trellises, to highlight specific plants, to add illumination to specific tasks such as barbecuing.
